I have learned a lot throughout this project. Even though I
have worked at the garage for the past three summers, I was able to further
expand my knowledge in mechanics. This was something that I never thought I
would be doing four years ago. To be honest I knew absolutely nothing about
bikes and how to take them apart and put them together, but I taught myself how.
This project truly helped me explore my passion to create things. I realized
that though I always tell people I will major in business, I must further
explore my interest to create and build in college. Campbell and I faced a lot
of challenges, and none of them were easy to get around. At moments I became
really frustrated with the hard work we had to put it, but it is easy to say
that it all paid off with the final products. I did not realize how much more I
could learn due to this project. With all the research done and help we had to
ask Patrick for, I was able to accumulate a lot of information. I also had no
idea how much I would learn about myself and how I react when an obstacle appears.
As I kept saying throughout my project though, it was all worth it. To have two
fully functional motorized bikes is very exciting. We can ride them around,
race them, charge them, but most important of all we can say that we built
them. None of this would have been possible without Patrick O’leary, the Toohey
fund, the Green Team, Mr. Hwang, Ms. Morgan, and Mr. Newman. Thank you very
much to all of them for helping us pursue this passion. This project has truly
been enlightening and an all around enjoyable experience. I have no doubt that
I will try to construct another motorized bicycle in the future and brag about
how it is such a great form of transportation. It is sad to know that I will no
longer be waking up early to meet Campbell at the garage. We made some great
memories and became great friends over this period of time. This project has
helped me develop my interests and was a great way to wrap up senior year. It
has been fun.
